Apartment Home Tour: Living Room  2

Hey yall!

I think this must be some kind of record for me, ya know, blogging more than once every 2 months! So far this week has been relatively calm, and it has put me in the mood to really sit down and whip out some posts! I’m one of those people who doesn’t plan out anything to blog about, I just write as and think, oh yeah, they might want to see or hear about this or that! So today, as always, I have my music going, another coffee in hand, and fur babies at my side. Let’s do this thing!

So I do want to give yall a little before and after of our living room space here in the ol’ urban cottage (I had a friend on Instagram who was calling our little place that, and I just adore it!), but yall know me, I have to ramble a little first! So today our alarm went off at good ol’ 5 am so we could hit the gym. Yayyyyy–just imagine this said really sarcastically! Ha! I tell ya, I am a morning person, I do love the mornings, but that time of the morning just ain’t right yall. Nope. Umm um. No. My perkiness just is not around at that hour! But, I so enjoyed once I got back from the gym, and I got to piddle around, drink coffee, and just listen to the morning sounds! That seriously was the perfect way to start the day! So I definitely felt ready to tackle the day! And for the most part I have tackled the day! But let me tell ya, I have no desire to cook dinner yall! It is getting that time, and I just feel like sitting here, rocking out to my music, and talking with yall instead!

So as I am sitting here typing, I have also had my mind of some decor changes here! I think I mentioned to yall that in our apartment we have those rich, espresso colored cabinets, right? They really are pretty yall, but they are not white. And you know me and white cabinets! I loved our kitchen at our house–creamy, white cabinet goodness! So in this space I have been struggling. I want to balance out the darkness of the cabinets with some really light decor. My counter space is getting there! Above the cabinets, I placed out all my rusty, old scales. But for some reason, I just ain’t liking it! So after pondering and pondering what to do, I think I finally have the solution. Maybe. Possibly. Please Jesus let this be the solution! I’m thinking of getting some more of those white, metal stands from Hobby Lobby, like I bought yesterday–I’ll share a picture in just a sec!–and placing white plates, bowls, and mugs on top on them! Now I’m not going to go crazy and buy a ton of stands, but I think 3 or 4 will do the trick! I also thought about stacking white plates up as well! I always get my decor. so to speak, plates and bowls and such from Dollar Tree, and they work out perfectly! I already have some baskets up there that I do love how they look, so I think if I just add in some more white decor it will help balance it more than rusty scales. Ya know? When I was telling the hubby this plan, he was like, Whoa, wait, what are you going to do with all those scales?! I felt like saying , Oh you know, throwing them in there with you in the man cave closet. Ha!! But no, I’ve already thought of that! I have a little wall with nothing on it in the dining room area, and I’m going to get a little white shelf from Lowes and place them on there! I’ll disperse them throughout the other spaces too! Don’t worry, I love those babies, they won’t be going anywhere! The hubs tells me to just let it go, it looks “fine” to him. Do hubby’s just not understand the art of decorating? Ha! It’s ever changing! I am always moving things around!
